For example, the first shot I planned to be a birds eye view shot of girls doing gymnastics. However, when at my location and actually shooting this, I found that it was not possible to get a birds eye view of what I wanted and therefore decided to just use a high angle shot to show the girls in a creative way to engage my audience.
In my storyboard I had not included this shot. However, during the editing process of my trailer I decided that my trailer needed other characters to be introduced nearer the beginning to help introduce my protagonist and show she has relationships with other people. The mid-close up of her coach looking happy and proud helps to portray the type of character Alexis, the protagonist, is.
This is another shot that was not originally included in planning, however I believed it was important to have shots showing the protagonists relationships with other people. Therefore I included two other gymnasts, younger than the protagonist herself, running to hug Alexis to convey the fact people look up to her. This shows she is an inspiring character.
This is another shot that I added in near the beginning in order to portray the protagonist more effectively. Showing friends cheering and applauding the protagonist helps to portray the fact Alexis is good at gymnastics, and also the fact she has relationships with people who support her and like her as a person. This makes it easier for the audience to relate with the protagonist.
Other major changes made from the storyboard to the actual trailer was the order of the shots. I moved series of shots around to change the timeline of my trailer; this way the audience can be introduced to the protagonist by getting to know her and her life. After this the injury is shown followed by immediate reactions and then the impact this had on her life. After this, the trailer shows the protagonist overcoming her injury and then finishes with her being happy and doing gymnastics again. I realised whilst editing my shots together that the shots being put in this order is more effective and more simple for the audience to follow.
